Melbourne-Tasmania-Melbourne part 3

Continue...
Day4(day 1 in Tasmania)-we fly domestic to Launceston, Tasmania. Have u see the Island of Tasmania? (it's a heart shape)

We got there close to brunch time, got our hertz rental car and set off for our brunch.

We went to Elaia Cafe, a place close by our lodge. The poached egg was cooked to perfection my parents loved it. Love how the eggs, spinach and bacon combined so well together.

We don't have a lot of time because tasmania are mostly wildlife are with a lot of scenic area to visit so we quickly make our way to cradle mountain. It took us around 2.5-3hrs drive from our lodge.

We chose a couple of short walks that are doable for my parents because my dad's legs are not in the best condition so we just enjoyed a short stroll, the freshness of the air and the view.

This was mostly what we see in Tasmania, lots and lots of empty land except Hobart which I will talk more about it as I go on.

From there we then head back to our lodge because shops in Tasmania close rather early, like around 5 or so except for some restaurants.

Are your dad like mine? He needs rice, basically Chinese food. So as we were on our way back to our lodge we stopped by this Chinese dynasty restaurant. And don't judge the book by its cover, the exterior of the building was meh but the interior was jaw dropping. I wish I had taken a photo of the exterior of the building but I guess I was too tired from the driving and I am hungry.

After dinner, we went to Coles to buy some water and eggs and some other necessities for us when we travel on the road. And I got this crispy M&M introduced by my baby sister, loved it.

Then we drove around the town of Launceston which most of the shops was closed. It's a relatively small town.

And here was our lodge:)

Day5(day 2 in Tasmania)-we drove to St Helen which is on the way to Binalong Bay about a 2.5hr drive to have some oysters. Salty seas are not a restaurant, they are wholesalers for locals restaurants to buy fresh ingredients. We bought a couple of prawns and oysters, they are really fresh.

Our stomach are not full enough so we went on to Binalong Bay and drop by Moresco which was the only restaurant over there. Their calamari and fish, yummy! Crispy on the inside and so soft on the outside. The vegetables on the side was so refreshing too. And not forgetting my amazing latte. Such a good place to eat and enjoy the view.

After all the sight seeing we went to the town of St Helen to walk around but there are not much to buy. As I was telling my friend the other time; i didn't buy any souvenirs because there are not many to choose from and I think are not very special either. So we just have a relaxing walk and drive.

As dinner comes, we went to this restaurant called blue shed and yes it's a boat restaurant with not many seats inside.

This was the inside of the boat. As you can see there was a counter and a couple of tables on the side and that's it. But don't let that fool you because the food was divine.

The owner was so nice and patient because we weren't sure what to order as we would really like to try the local specialties so he told us trevalla fish was really good. And damn he is right.

After dinner we drove back again to Launceston.

And that sums up our first 2 days in Tasmania.

Melbourne-Tasmania-Melbourne part 2

Ok to continue from my previous post...

Here are my day 2-3 in Melbourne:

We went to Queen Victoria Market.

Had brunch at their food court. Had a lovely cup of hot chocolate too.

I love fresh oysters. Yums!

For dinner, we went to this hot pot place in Chinatown. Not a good choice for dinner as I remember I was so full but we enjoyed it since the weather was kinda chilly and a good hot pot is the best.

The next day while my parents was still asleep I went out for a good cup of Hot chocolate at koko black at royal arcade. We were here on the first day but at that time we just had our meal so i had no tummy space for hot chocolate so i went back again to satisfy my cravings. Yum yum! I highly recommend this.
And before heading back to the hotel to get my parents I had to drop by another place that I research for some macarons. I am so determined to try every macarons place that comes my way. I love macarons:)

Here we are waiting for the tram to explore melbourne. Love how convenient these tram are.

One of the places that I have been wanting to visit is the State Library of Victoria. Such a beauty, I just had to take a couple of pictures there.

After that we went to Chinatown for brunch. We had dim sum at this place which I don't remember the name of the restaurant but what I do remember was that the people are not very friendly. Haha.

I need some dessert after meal so i went on to a near by bubble tea place called easyway and had their taro milk tea. I love it and so did my dad:)

Yup! You might find me crazy but I am all about macarons. Adriano Zumbo was introduced by my sister, there were a lot of choices since there were plenty of them. I had the popcorn macarons (I don't remember the exact name) it's sweet but it's good.

So that's a wrap for our 3rd day in Melbourne.

Stay tuned for my next posts for the next part of my travel journey.

Melbourne-Tasmania-Melbourne part 1

I know I mentioned in my previous post that I will be blogging as I go along but I didn't manage to. Sorry. I was so busy running around the whole day, the only time I have was to just Instagram. I bought their Australian prepaid SIM card that limits me on the data, that's one reason. However, they do have free wifi at certain spots in their CBD area but I am always on the go so I didn't bother to sit on a spot to get their wifi; so that's the other reason. But not to worry I will do a throwback posts on my vacations that I enjoyed so very much.

Day 1-3 Melbourne:

Melbourne is such a beautiful city with all their magical laneways and coffee; haha. I am not sure whether I can write better than I show you with pictures but please just bare with me.

So this was how we started off. We had a night flight at 9.15pm from Singapore to Melbourne; we then arrived at 7.30ish am in Melbourne. Checked in, drop our luggages and set off to have breakfast at xpressmondo located at degraves st.

We were able to walk there with ease because we stayed at one of the CBD hotel. So convenient. The Coffee at xpressmondo was good but their breakfast was just ok. Not a bad experience, we enjoyed it.
After our breakfast we went around centre place laneway, flinders st and just walk around the city and enjoy the breeze.
I went to check out Royal arcade and tried the macarons there. There is always a place in my tummy for dessert. I tried the pistachios and green tea. The safe flavors to try it first at a new place. It's sweet but it's good.

We went to Chinatown, nothing much for shopping but lots of good Chinese restaurants.
I think it was the next day or so, we went to try at one of the restaurants at Chinatown called spicy fish. I think they do Szechuan style dishes. The other dishes like green beans and all was good but I don't recommend the spicy diced chicken because the flavors are not fully infused into the chicken.

Day 2-3, are more exploring, shopping and eating for but I hope I can be more precise in my post as I blog about it.

For now I will just leave it at this. I just got back early this morning from Melbourne. So lazy and just want to rest.

But just to summarize my trip in short, I stayed at Melbourne for the first three days and then fly off to Launceston, Tasmania and stayed there for about 5 days 4 nights driving the scenic area. Then left from Hobart, Tasmania for melbourne again and stayed there for the remaining of my trip.

Stay tuned for my next post as I tell you more about my trip. Cheers.

PHO 99 Vietnamese Delight

While browsing at my pictures I realize that I have missed out on blogging about this amazing place that my friend introduced me.

I had a lunch date with my ex colleague near her work place at Tanjong Pagar. This Vietnam delicacy really brings back many great memories while I was in the US, especially the Vietnam coffee. And surprisingly enough it's also called Pho 99. Anyway, when it comes to coffee, I couldn't find a better friend to enjoyed it with than her because she also loves coffee (haha).

So, we ordered their beef noodle soup. It's so yummy. It's so easy to locate their place and it is located fairly closely from Tanjong Pagar Mrt.

Milo

I have been feeling very lethargic these few days, been eating out a lot as well but not any place new, that's why there are no new post lately, I apologize. However, there are a couple of things that I am obsess with lately and one of them will be Milo. But but but... (yes three buts) I don't like to drink them from any coffee shops out there because they tends to be sweeter due to the condense milk that they add on. Also, i find Milo by itself is already sweet, need not any add on. And, I used to drink the 3-in-1 only when I am in the office (for something quick and easy) but when I am at home I like those that comes from the cans. For me 4 spoonful (max) of those Milo powders are just it for me. It's sweet but not as sweet as the one I drank outside. If you find it sweet,  like I do, sometime I will go with 3 spoons instead of 4. Haha.

Go make some Milo!
